Our athletic therapy services begin with an initial injury assessment. It’s important to visit an athletic therapist as quickly as possible after your injury, and our therapist can assess the extent of your injury and begin a treatment plan to get you back on the field or to your daily activities as quickly as possible. Here at Elevate Rehabilitation and Performance, we treat a wide range of patients, from seniors recovering from hip replacement surgery to high-level athletes with concussions. During your injury assessment, Mike will assess your current state, talk with you about your goals, and create a customized treatment plan to help you reach those goals.
Once your injury assessment is complete, our athletic therapist will begin your treatment. This may include a combination of manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and education. Manual therapy includes techniques such as massage, mobilization, and manipulation that are used to help improve range of motion, reduce pain, and increase muscle strength. Therapeutic exercises are designed to help strengthen and improve the flexibility of muscles and tissues that may be weak or atrophied as a result of your injury. Modalities such as ice, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and biofeedback can also be used to reduce pain and swelling during treatment. Education is also an important part of our rehabilitation process, and we teach you how to prevent these injuries from occurring in the future and how to handle your pain if it does arise again.
At Elevate Rehabilitation and Performance, we strive to teach all of our patients proper body maintenance so that they can avoid injuries as often as possible. Our athletic therapists will show you how to properly warm-up before exercising or playing your sport, how to condition your body for practice or games, and how to cool down after a strenuous workout. We will also talk with you about how to manage injuries that cause chronic pain due to long-term wear on your tissues and joints.
At Elevate Rehabilitation And Performance, we work with many types of athletes, from weekend warriors to high school, college, semi-professional, and professional players. If you need our athletic therapy services, contact us in Oakville today!
